I'm not a parent. I hope to be one day, but right now, I'm not. This means that I have no authority to speak. Like I would let that stop me

No arguments against from this angle, Cheese-Doctor. Sure, it's nice for parents to not worry what their kiddie will find if they turn their back for a moment, but fine, you set limits. Parenting is not hands-free or "set and forget". I think it's part of a broader problem of expecting governments to do everything for us generally. Sure, they should provide basic services (although they do so less every year), but parenting: forget it.

I don't know what happened to a generation there, but it seems that a larger percentage of parents compared to previous generations) these days just couldn't be bothered raising their own children.

Maybe it's a result of our "push-button society", or maybe the zombies are already taking over.

I'm hoping for the latter. It's less worrying.
