I can imagine the danger, but have fortunately not fallen to it. I tend to use music to sympathise and resonate, rather than to repair. Sometimes, the right music can unlock the fullness of the feeling, so you can burn it out and get it over with. Not always, but it's nice when it does.

In thinking of my own emotive songs... it seems that the negative ones... the painful song memories - are those that get tied to specific memories. A distinct sharp moment in time which pierces the accumulation of chronology, and returns you to that time and place.
Whilst the songs of joy (for me I might cite Harrison's "Got my mind set on you" or TMBG's "Doctor Worm") tend not to be about such specific events - but moreso about a general feel/mood/emotion. They may still be memory tied (Doctor Worm for me is VERY strongly a 2002 driving song, and makes me sing out loud every time).
But for fixing wounds with songs of happy... I think it depends on the person. On the wound. On the song... it can work, but as you note. Caution to take. I think perhaps only when you are more ready to heal... some things are not to be forced.
